Become More Capable, Confident, and Composed
Sigma’s adult martial arts program helps you build real striking skills, improve your fitness, reduce stress, and become more confident under pressure.
No martial arts experience needed, no need to get in shape first. We are a welcoming place to start at any level.
Located in Medford, MA, Sigma serves adults from across the surrounding communities and the greater Boston area.
A Different Kind of Adult Workout
Most workouts ask you to repeat the same movements without giving you a meaningful reason to come back.
Martial arts is different.
Every class gives you something new to learn. You improve your fitness while developing balance, coordination, focus, defensive awareness, and real striking technique.
That progress matters. You are not simply trying to finish a workout. You are learning how to move with greater control, strike with better technique, and remain composed when training becomes challenging.
Classes are serious, structured, and purposeful. They are also welcoming. You will not be expected to prove yourself, compete with experienced members, or figure everything out on your own.
You will be coached from where you are.
Built for All Levels. Designed for Long-Term Growth.
Starting martial arts can feel intimidating.
You may be worried that you will not keep up. You may feel out of shape, uncoordinated, or unsure of what to expect. You may think everyone else will already know what they are doing.
Those concerns are normal.
Our program gives beginners a clear and accessible starting point. Instructors explain each skill, why it matters, and how to practice it safely. You will build your foundation one class at a time.
Experienced martial artists can also continue developing through more technical partner training and controlled application.
You do not need to decide how far you want to go before you begin. Some members want fitness and bag training. Others want partner work, sparring, or deeper martial arts development.
Each path is valid.
Confidence is not something you must bring with you. It develops as you gain knowledge, improve your control, and see yourself becoming more capable.
One Program. Three Ways to Progress.
-

LEVEL 1: Sigma Strike Lab
Build fitness, confidence, and strong striking fundamentals in a high-energy, bag-based class. You will learn proper stance, footwork, punches, kicks, defense, and movement without sparring or partner contact. Strike Lab is a welcoming place to start, even if you have no martial arts experience.
-

LEVEL 2: Partners and Pads
Develop your technique through cooperative partner drills, pad work, and controlled defensive exercises. You will learn how to manage distance, build effective combinations, use angles, and respond to another person safely. This class builds practical skill and prepares members for more advanced training without open sparring.
-

LEVEL 3: Advanced Sparring
Apply your skills against a resisting partner in a controlled and respectful environment. This optional advanced class develops timing, range control, defense, strategy, composure, and decision-making under pressure. It is designed for members who are ready for controlled sparring, deeper martial arts development, or competition preparation.
What People Are Saying
What You Can Gain From Training
People begin martial arts for different reasons.
Some want a more interesting way to exercise. Some want to feel safer. Some need a break from work and daily responsibilities. Others want to challenge themselves, meet new people, or finally become consistent with something meaningful.
Our program is built to support all of those goals.
Improve Your Fitness
Martial arts develops strength, stamina, coordination, balance, mobility, and body control.
Because your mind stays engaged, class feels different from repeating the same routine on a treadmill or exercise machine. You are working hard, but you are also solving problems and developing skill.
Fitness becomes part of a larger goal.
Learn Practical Skills
You will learn real stand-up martial arts skills, including striking, movement, defensive habits, range awareness, and controlled application.
You will understand what you are doing and why it works. You will not be asked to blindly copy movements without instruction or context.
Reduce Stress
Training gives you a place to step away from work, responsibilities, and constant mental noise.
For the length of the class, your attention is on your movement, breathing, technique, and the task in front of you.
That focus can help you leave class feeling clearer, more grounded, and more present.
Build Earned Confidence
Real confidence comes from knowledge and preparation.
As you learn new skills, overcome difficult rounds, and see your progress, you begin to trust yourself more. You know what you can do because you have practiced it.
That confidence often carries into the rest of life.
Train With Other Motivated Adults
You should not have to work out alone.
At Sigma, members train in a cooperative environment built around respect, encouragement, and shared progress. You will be surrounded by adults who are working toward their own goals and helping one another improve.
There is no place for ego, intimidation, or humiliation.
Create Consistency
Many adults do not struggle because they are incapable of working hard.
They struggle because their routine gives them no clear goal, accountability, or sense of progress.
Our curriculum provides structure. Your instructors help you understand what you are working on, where you are improving, and what comes next.
That makes it easier to build a training habit that lasts.
