Frequently Asked Questions
Starting something new comes with questions. Here are the answers parents usually want to know before they book.
-
Every child starts differently. Some jump right in. Others need time to get comfortable, stay focused, or build confidence in a new environment.
Our children's classes are organized around age-appropriate expectations, clear instruction, achievable challenges, and positive coaching. Your child's first visit gives you (and us) a chance to see how they respond before deciding what comes next.
-
We teach martial arts with an emphasis on control, respect, safety, and responsible use of skill. Our instructors create a structured environment where children learn real martial arts while practicing how to listen, follow directions, control their bodies, work with others, and respond appropriately to challenges.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch the class in our comfortable seating areas inside the studio and in the lounge.
-
Sigma instructors are professionally trained to provide clear instruction, set appropriate expectations, coach children through challenges, recognize individual needs, and create an environment that is both welcoming and structured.
Your assessment lets you meet our team and see exactly how we interact with children before making a decision about the program.
-
We'll start by learning a little about your child and what you're hoping martial arts can help them develop.
Then your child will participate in an age-appropriate class, meet our instructors, and experience how we teach.
After class, we'll answer your questions, share what we observed, and explain the next step we believe would be appropriate for your child.
Our goal is to give you enough information and firsthand experience to decide whether Sigma is the right fit for your family.

We have gone to Sigma for years and absolutely love the senseis and programming. My son goes to the after school program and has been having a great time. It’s structured, fun, and teaches kids important skills. Great karate studio for beginners and the experienced clients alike!

This is an awesome martial arts studio. The owner runs a clean operation, and the instruction is top notch. The dojo is well appointed with safety padding on floors and pillars, and has floor to ceiling mirrors to check your form during classes. I hope all aspiring martial arts students and aficionados alike take note of this hidden gem!
